Pre-Construction module

Budget Control in Mango ERP

Know where every project stands against its budget, cost code by cost code, before it overruns.

What it is

What does the Budget Control module do?

Budget Control sets each project's budget by cost code and compares it with actual cost as purchases, site issues and bills are posted. It controls both money and material, records every budget revision, and warns before a requisition takes a cost code past its limit — so overruns show up while there is still time to act.

The problem it solves

01

Overruns found at month-end

Costs are totalled after the fact, so by the time the overrun shows up the money is already spent.

02

Budgets that drift silently

Revisions are made in files and emails, and nobody can say what the budget was last quarter or why it changed.

03

Material bought beyond the plan

Site buys what it needs today without seeing how much of the budgeted quantity is already used.

Key features

Budgets by cost code

Break each project into cost codes and set money and quantity budgets for each.

Budget vs. actual, live

Actual cost updates as purchase orders, site issues and bills are posted.

Checks before commitment

Requisitions and orders are checked against the remaining budget before they are approved.

Material quantity control

Track budgeted vs. used quantity of key materials, not only the rupee value.

Revision history

Every budget change is recorded with who changed it, when and why.

Profit at completion

Compare the estimate to complete with the original budget to see expected profit or loss per project.

How it works

  1. 1

    Start from the tender

The won tender or estimate sets the first budget.

  2. 2

    Split by cost code

Money and quantities per cost code.

  3. 3

    Control commitments

Purchases are checked against what is left.

  4. 4

    Track and revise

Budget vs. actual live, with every revision logged.

Questions about Budget Control

Actual cost is picked up from the other modules as documents are posted — purchase orders, site issues, subcontractor bills — so budget vs. actual is current without a separate reconciliation.

Requisitions and orders are checked against the remaining budget for their cost code before approval, so an overrun is flagged before the money is committed.

Yes. Budgets can carry quantities for materials, so you can see how much of the planned quantity has been used, not only how much has been spent.

Yes. Every revision is recorded with who made it and when, so the budget history of a project is always available.
